We are a non-profit 501c3 corporation that was founded in 1987 to provide supportive transitional care for men in the Twin Cities area seeking to maintain sobriety, post-treatment, and working toward self-sufficiency.

The Green House is a 22-bed facility offering 30-180 day stays post-treatment with 30-90 days being most common. Funding for this program is through the County and State by a Rule 25 process. The Green House Recovery Center also has a contract to provide 26 beds to the Long Term Homeless Program. This program is funded by Ramsey County, the State of Minnesota and HUD. It includes nursing services and LACD counseling, and also may include Food Stamp support. This population is mixed in with over 52 self-funded sober residents.

The Green House Recovery Center includes long term sober living housing in one of 12 houses and apartments in St. Paul. Residents of the sober living houses also have access to the sobriety support programs at the Green House.

We at the Green House Recovery Center help to break the cycle of poverty, homelessness, loneliness and despair brought on by alcoholism and drug addiction. The emphasis on continuing education, using community support, finding housing, and making sober memories are effective tools that empower residents to break the cycle in which they’ve found themselves.

Close working relationships develop with residents in weekly, on-site, A.A. meetings, enabling them to identify their needs together. The staff refers residents to community programs and resources such as A.A., N.A., Ramsey Medical Center mental health and chemical dependency programs, Legal Aid, and the Minnesota Department for vocational rehabilitation.
